Gefinor Center, with its twenty-story tower, is a distinguished landmark of Beirut. Its state-of-the-art facilities and services, ranging from refreshing leisure spaces and customized office layouts to reliable technologies and efficient car and pedestrian access, all combine to create a business and commercial center that serves its community well.
The giant Gefinor Center is a 55,000 square meter business complex with five blocks and a large area for retail and restaurant spaces on the ground floors. It was one of the first structures of this size in the Middle East and is equally impressive today.
THE CHALLENGE
Climacond Middle East SAL was entrusted in late 2017 by M/S Arabian Construction Company SAL for the replacement of the three existing cooling towers installed at Gefinor Center.
A main obstacle faced during the replacement of the cooling towers had to do with project engineering and tight schedule. The extensive pre-planning and equipment selection phase of the project proved difficult due to the effect that the cooling towers had to be operational for the spring of 2018.
Effective communication and problem solving were key to narrowing down M/S ACC ultimate needs for the project.

THE SOLUTION
The close engineering coordination with the project’s consultant M/S Associated Mechanical Engineers led to the procurement of three Kelvion conterflow cooling towers model Polacel CMDR19 240-DL-150-PS9/3. Each cooling tower has a cooling capacity of 2,269.00 kW and a water flow of 348.3 cu. meters per hour.

The Polacel CMDR series are characterized by a compact motor gearbox combination that is mounted directly on top of the cooling tower above the axial fan. The cooling generated by evaporation of approximately 1% of the cooling water.
